When in Rome

After a busy day having a great time at the Expo, the girls and I all headed to bed early to rest up for our day trip to Rome on Saturday. Andrea worked with us and planned out a nice day for us to see as much as we could in the one day we had to spend in Rome. We took the earliest train that morning and got to work. As typical tourists, we planned on doing a "Hop on hop off" bus tour. Since there was a big morning crowd, Andrea walked us around a little bit on our own to start off. We made our way to our fist stop, the Spanish steps.

You can't take 8 fashion students on a trip to Rome, Italy and not involve fashion in some way. So around the corner from the Spanish steps, Andrea showed us the Valentino headquarters.

We continued our walk to the Trevi Fountain. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing part of our trip. The Trevi Fountain is under construction and will not be fixed until later in the year. They still had a small bowl of water for tourists to throw their coins into, but it just wasn't the same.

For lunch, we went to the Pantheon and got some Carbarnara (famous to Rome) and gelato.

After grabbing lunch and shopping a little, we finally hopped on the bus (pun intended). Before that, we stopped and got some pics in front of the beautiful Victor Emmanuel II Monument.

The total bus ride was about an hour, taking us around the city to various historical spots.

Unfortunately, we were only able to see St. Peter's Basilica from a distance. Time didn't allow for us to stop and enjoy it.

 Palace of Justice

         Basillica di Santa Maria Maggiore

Our final stop on the bus and of the day was, of course, the Colosseum.

We had a wonderful day together despite heat and time crunch. Thanks, Andrea for showing us a great city!
